Dr Katz studied Medicine at Cambridge University (1985-1988) and University College London (1988-1991), qualifying in 1991. He began specialist training in endocrinology in 1994, whilst working in the internationally renowned Department of Endocrinology at St Bartholomew’s Hospital.  Dr Katz returned to University College London (UCL) for specialist registrar training from 1994-2001, working with eminent endocrinologists at UCL , The Royal Free and Whittington Hospitals.  From 1996-1998, he undertook a 2-year research fellowship, culminating in an MD Thesis on “obesity and polycystic ovary syndrome”. In 1999, Dr Katz worked as a registrar in Sydney, Australia, gaining an international perspective on endocrinology.

Consultant Career

From 2001-2005, Dr Katz worked as a Consultant Endocrinologist at QE2 Hospital, part of the East and North Herts NHS Trust. In 2005, he returned to London, taking up the post of Consultant in Diabetes & Endocrinology at Barnet Hospital. In 2007, Dr Katz was appointed as Head of The Endocrinology Department at Barnet and Chase Farm NHS Trust. In 2009, Dr Katz was elected as a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (FRCP)- an honour granted to consultants providing the highest standards of care.

NHS Practice

Dr Katz is Head of The Endocrinology Department at Barnet and Chase Farm NHS Trust. He is based at Barnet Hospital, where he runs outpatient clinics for patients with diabetes, thyroid disease and other hormone imbalances.

Dr Katz has wide experience in managing many endocrinological disorders. The hormone imbalances he treats include, but are not limited to:
